According to a report by"Hawaii News Now", the sad accident occurred on March 23 on the island of Kauai, one of the islands of Hawaii.

Together with her boyfriend Connor Quinton, Gianna had set out to hike the Makaleha Falls trail to her destination, the famous waterfalls in the middle of the forest.

"But suddenly they heard a loud noise," Gianna's father said in an interview with KGTV. "Connor looked up but couldn't see where the noise was coming from. Not a second later it happened ... The stone came loose from a considerable height and finally landed on Gianna."

The 26-year-old immediately fell unconscious and fell into the water under the waterfall. Her boyfriend reacted quickly and pulled his lover out. But just as he was about to call for help, he noticed that his cell phone had no reception in the dense forest. He ran almost five kilometers to alert the emergency services. When they finally got through to Gianna, she was still breathing but had already lost a lot of blood from her head wound.

The paramedics rushed Gianna to a hospital in Honolulu, but there the star chef succumbed to her serious injuries.

A family friend has since launched a fundraising appeal to support Gianna's parents and boyfriend.

Gianna was a rising star in Michelin-starred gastronomy. She was head pastry chef at the Michelin-starred restaurant "Jeune et Jolie" in California. But just like her job in the kitchen, she also loved nature.

Her mother said in an interview about the incident: "She was in nature. She was with the love of her life. For a brief moment, she felt pure happiness. She was experiencing the most beautiful moment of her life, and that is priceless."
