After years of persecution: stalker stabs student (†22) in the street

Messina (Italy) - "Where are you? I'm sure that sick man is following me again." That was the last message Sara Campanella (†22) sent to her friends before she was cruelly struck down by her stalker.

As the newspaper"Südtirol News" reports, Sara was on her way home from one of her medical lectures at the University of Messina last Monday evening.

She realized that something was wrong, because since she had left the university building, a car had been following her at every turn. At the wheel was Stefano Argentino (27), one of Sara's fellow students.

She had already turned him down several times, but for more than two years now, the 27-year-old has not let up and seems to be obsessed with the young woman. Sara also noticed this pathological mania and wrote a message to her friends before it was too late.

Stefano stopped his car at a bus stop and got out. A wild exchange of words broke out between the two of them. But suddenly Stefano apparently lost control and stabbed the innocent girl several times with a knife.

A deep wound to her neck left the 22-year-old with no chance. Although she was taken to hospital, she succumbed to her serious injuries shortly afterwards .

Police can arrest stalker

The crime took place in front of several witnesses, but they did not manage to catch the 27-year-old. Stefano fled to his home town of Noto in his car, but fortunately the police were able to quickly identify and eventually arrest the perpetrator thanks to video footage from surveillance cameras.

Meanwhile, there is great grief in Messina and Misilmeri, the two home towns of Sara's family, which is why protests and mourning rallies have already taken place in both towns.
