Anjela Borisova Urumova (20) was sentenced to 45 days to 23 months in prison in the US state of Pennsylvania last Tuesday after she deliberately spread lies about Daniel Pierson (41).

According to the police, she must serve an additional year on probation and undergo mental health treatment.

She is also banned from approaching the victim and his family and must pay him around 3,250 euros in damages.

In January, Anjela pleaded guilty to seven charges, including tampering with or falsifying evidence.

Her fabricated story that Pierson had attacked her from behind and raped her meant that the man was wrongly imprisoned for around a month.

She also claimed that he pulled down her pants and punched her, leaving bruises on her face.

The New York Post reported that she specifically chose her victim because she thought he looked "creepy".

The deputy district attorney harshly criticized the 20-year-old's behavior.

"In this case, she targeted an innocent man and accused him of one of the worst crimes a person can be accused of," she added.
